Reconciliation

We all miss the mark sometimes. We all have wounds from living this life. The Sacrament of Reconciliation, also called Penance or Confession, was given by Christ to the Apostles – who in turn hands it on to the bishops and priests that follow. As He gives the ability to forgive sins in His name (meaning the priest acts as the spokesman for the forgiveness of Christ), Jesus tells the Apostles, “Peace” (John 20:21)! Peace is the fruit of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Act of Contrition
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because of Thy just punishments, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who art all-good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.
